Bombinhas Brazil: The Ultimate Adventure & Diving Guide
Trade lazy beach days for rugged trails and crystal-clear dives. Discover the ultimate adventure guide to Bombinhas, Brazil's ecological diving capital.
Think you know Brazilian beaches? Think again. Welcome to Bombinhas. It is the smallest municipality in Santa Catarina. But it packs the heaviest punch.
Forget the lazy days on a plastic chair. This is not your standard resort town. This is the ecological diving capital of Brazil. It demands your attention. It demands your sweat.
During the high season, you pay an environmental preservation fee just to cross the city limits. Pay it. Do not complain. That fee keeps this paradise wild. It protects the fragile coral reefs and dense jungles you are about to tear through.

Dare to Dive the Deep End
Start your expedition at Bombas Beach. Two kilometers of sprawling sand. Calm waters perfect for a quick cool-down.
But do not just sit there on a towel. Head to the far left side of the beach. The Galheta Municipal Natural Park is waiting. Hit the dirt trails. Find the elevated viewpoints overlooking the vast Atlantic.
Head right, and you hit a brand-new coastal walkway. It leads straight to Ribeiro Beach. The access is incredibly easy now. The free diving here is absolutely spectacular.
Keep moving down the jagged coast. You will quickly hit Bombinhas Beach itself. It is half the size of its neighbor but twice as iconic.
Walk heavily on the dry sand. Listen closely. It makes a sharp popping sound like tiny firecrackers under your boots. That is exactly how the town earned its explosive name.
Hunt Down the Secret Coves
Skip the crowded main sands. Hunt down Praia da Sepultura. You have to walk a short dirt trail at the end of Rua das Garoupas to get there.
Absolutely worth it. Every single step.
This is the holy grail for free diving in the southern region. The water is crystal clear. The waves are virtually non-existent. Strap on your mask. Plunge into the piercing emerald depths.
Local legend says a slave was buried right here after a brutal fight. The history is dark. The scenery is absolutely stunning.

Do not stop at the sand. Hike along the jagged cliffs. Find the natural rock pools. Swim all the way to Lagoinha Beach if you have the lungs for it.
Need more isolation? Check out Retiro dos Padres. It sits right near Sepultura.
Infrastructure is minimal here. The wild, rustic aspect remains completely untouched. Just you, the crashing ocean, and the rugged coast.
Conquer the Untamed Coastline
Next up is Quatro Ilhas. You can see four distinct islands right from the shoreline. Galé, Arvoredo, Macuco, and Deserta.
The beach is pristine. The vibe is decidedly wild. Take the easy twenty-minute trail on the right cliffside. The elevated views will blow your mind.
Make your way to Mariscal. It is massive. There is plenty of room to breathe. Plenty of room to run.
The name comes from the insane amount of shellfish clinging to the rocks. Explore the left cliffside. You will stumble onto Atalaia Beach.
It is tiny. Just 240 meters long. But it draws an energetic crowd for a reason. The atmosphere here is pure electricity.
Suffer for the Summit
Now, head to Canto Grande. It splits into an inside sea and an outside sea. A traditional fishing village sits right in the middle.

This is it. The main event. Morro do Macaco.
Start at the end of Rua Jequitibá. Lace up your boots. You have a steep vertical climb ahead of you.
It takes forty minutes. You will sweat. Your legs will burn. The humidity will cling to your skin. Keep climbing.
The trail is self-guided and well-marked. Two viewpoints offer a sneak peek on the way up. But the summit is what you came for.
Look down. You can see the insane geographic formation of the peninsula. Canto Grande on the left. Conceição on the right.
It is a 360-degree masterpiece. Do not leave Bombinhas without standing on this peak.
Don't Miss
The forty-minute sweat session up Morro do Macaco. The crystal-clear free diving at Praia da Sepultura. The rugged, off-road drive to the wild shores of Tainha Beach.
Chase the Wild Edge
Head down to Conceição Beach. It is completely sheltered by massive hills. The winds cannot touch you here.
Explore the natural pools on the right side. Dive in. Let the salt wash the sweat away.
Ready for a real adventure? Drive out to Tainha Beach. It sits right on the "Whale's Tail" of the peninsula.
The road is rough. The access is tough. Your vehicle will rattle. Keep driving. That rough terrain keeps the casual tourists far away.
The vegetation here is fiercely native. If you time it right, you will witness the artisanal mullet fishing. It is raw, authentic local culture.
Finish your expedition at Zimbros Beach. Two kilometers of sand dotted with traditional fishing boats.
Head to the far right side. Find the dirt trail. It leads straight to Lagoa and Cardoso beaches.
They are completely deserted. No beach bars. No umbrellas. Pure, unadulterated wilderness.
Bombinhas is not going to hand its secrets to you on a silver platter. You have to hike for them. You have to dive for them. You have to earn them.
Skip the all-inclusive resorts. Grab your snorkel. Rent a rugged vehicle.
The trails are waiting. The ocean is calling. What are you waiting for? Get out there.
